Email from Colin F   ..... Never give up!

Sorry to hear your autopsy brought bad news Roy . . I guess that's a lesson for us all, and it has been noted to make a sealed set, when I eventually stop changing the plans. However, on a better note my set failing actually did me some good, it prevented me from even going for 'J' when the water was high as I was the first one over trying to find 'I' but my set gave up before entering wet country, then Gary appeared. Unfortunately I then left to find help and missed the whole drama of sinking bodies, as i was now out of the race I wish I'd had a camera handy.

Anyway after about half an hour of wandering around the woods to no avail, I eventually had the bright idea of going back over the railway, and soon found both Rosie and Phil trying to ressusitate Rosies already drowned receiver. Phil had one of your sets spare, and gave this to Rosie, when I realised she was then going for 'I' I left my dead set with Phil and chased after her, by this time the water had dropped enough to find a way over without wet feet.

Rosie didn't understand frame sets very well, so I took over and found 'I' (my joker), but when I was crawling out from the undergrowth I realised my right eye was out of focus . . Oh damn, my lens has gone, with absolutely no chance of finding that, I continued on with Rosie sharing the use of the set, whilst I trained her to follow the highest signal instead of a null. After bagging token after token we arrived back at 'A' shedding our tokens into the postie tin.

Now 20 mins left, Rosie had 'B' but I didn't, she still wanted 'F' & 'G' though, and probed Phil into how far they were, he suggested there was not enough time left, I on the other hand rushed off for 'B' then thought why not, I can only lose points for 'B' now so I started the long trek North towards 'F' & 'G', I ran as much as I could until I found you, luckily no time wasted at 'G'. Then 'F' was easy, so with about 7 mins left I ran back and made it within 3 mins. I can tell you I was pretty chuffed with my effort, especially as I had resigned myself to a nill score 2 hours previously!
