Multi-Tx DF

Organiser  Tim M0BGE

Location   Fordham, NGR 927286

Tim had used the Fordham site several times before but, since he was on holiday until just before the event, opportunities to search for a different location were limited.

He intended to use Saturday to plan our amusement and set up Txs on site. Unfortunately, the heavens opened that day, leaving only the very early Sunday morning option! However, as you will see from the results, he needn't have worried, the results were almost perfect, no one was able to complete the 10 tx course, which meant there was no waiting by Txs for early finishers. Gary almost did it though, finding 9 before having to make sure that his finds were banked at his Joker by 4pm.

What made an apparently straight forward distribution of Txs such a challenge?  The answer, as is so often the case in DF, was difficult terrain if you left paths and power lines.  The Ghost (Tx 1)  was very close to one but unusually as you approached its actual location, the signal pointed away from the line and Tx into the middle of an area of bushes.  This resulted in DFers running in different directions with views of each other obscured by undergrowth but then one of the closest ghost finishes we have had, with 4 of us suddenly arriving at the same spot at the same time.

A also caused problems, though not particularly close to cables, bearings took some of us to the church and had us trapped with no obvious route to its location. Much under breath cursing occurred when the easy way in was discovered!   So, thanks for all your efforts Tim, a great event.

Somewhere under the rainbow ...  Chris  .... help!
Can you see / hear my 'Only for the smart' phone, it's escaped again?
