April Fool DF  2011

The fool hiding amongst vicious brambles was yours truly Roy - G4JAC
Location between Rowhedge Dock and Fingeringhoe.

In the pictures above T marks the main Tx and G the unmanned 'Getaway Tx'.
The start was at Tiptree Heath an easy drive to the site being possible.  Gary had the best strategy and was very close to the site at 20:00 when his set packed up; a real shame because he had a big lead.  Larby had the next best strategy but didn't trust his initial bearings and spent far too long confirming that I was actually the same side of the river as he was.  By the time he arrived on site Ian had already checked out the other side,  he still should have won but walked past twice. Ian made no mistake, staight in first time. Obviously the aging boodhound nose still works!
Larby also showed great 'sportsmanship' by doing several circuits of my site trying to find a way out, thus allowing Ian Plenty of time to complete the double at the Mini Tx.
After 10 minutes Timbo appeared through the brambles but despite the fact I was only 15 metres from the footpath he also struggled to get out!
So where was Philip?  Yes he had also visited the 'fools paradise' on the other side of the River Colne and then wasted precious Tx searching time looking for a  .......................  parking space. By the time he had found me there was just no time left for Mini Tx hunting.  So, it is true what they say:   "You can't win them all" especially on April 1st.
